The firm advised the Department of Work and Pensions (DWP) on one of the largest software development contracts ever to be awarded in the UK. The contracts have an aggregate value of over £1.9bn and involve the appointment of third-party suppliers to provide application development and support needs for DWP over the next seven to ten years.

Herbert Smith acted for Primark in its high-profi le case against the BBC after an edition of Panorama used fake footage to show children involved in the manufacture of the clothing giant’s products. The three-year case was won after the BBC rejected Primark’s original complaint, with the broadcaster found to be in breach of its own guidelines.
